Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 12 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chili flakes for heat

Instructions

  • Spray crock pot with cooking spray or use liner.
  • Layer onions and garlic in the bottom of the crock pot.
  • Place chicken on top of onion and garlic mixture.
  • Mix BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Pour over chicken.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 4–6 hours.
  • Remove chicken and shred with two forks. Return to crock pot and stir to coat with sauce.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
