Description

These soft, buttery Halloween cinnamon rolls are filled with cinnamon sugar, topped with creamy orange-and-white frosting, and decorated with a spooky twist. Perfect for a cozy Halloween breakfast or fall dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

1. For the dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp salt

2. For the filling:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

3. For the frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • Orange gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, remaining sugar, and salt. Stir in flour gradually until a soft dough forms. Knead 5–7 minutes, then let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Mix filling ingredients into a spreadable paste.
  4. Roll dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly, leaving a small border.
  5. Roll tightly, cut into 12 pieces, and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden and puffed.
  7. Beat frosting ingredients until smooth. Tint half with orange food coloring.
  8. Spread, drizzle, or pipe frosting on cooled rolls. Add chocolate drizzle for spiderwebs or candy eyes for fun.

Notes

  • For a faster version, use store-bought dough.
  • For vegan rolls, use plant-based butter and cream cheese.
  • For gluten-free, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
